Your First Visit – What to Expect
Patient Forms
Upon entering our office, we will greet you and welcome you to our office. We will request that you complete or submit already completed new patient forms. This paperwork provides us with general information about yourself, your condition, and insurance coverage you would like to use.
First Visit Forms
– Personal Data
– How are You Feeling?
– Consultation
Next, you have a consultation with Dr. Miller. You discuss your concerns and possible treatments. The purpose of the first visit is for the doctor to learn about you, your condition, and to determine how chiropractic care may help your situation.
Examination
After the consultation, the doctor performs a complete chiropractic examination. During this exam, he tests your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend, as well as other neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical examinations. All of this is performed with your consent.
X-Rays
In order to get a full evaluation for your condition, the doctor may require x-rays. They help us rule out more serious conditions and assist in treating you most effectively. At Silver Lake Chiropractic, we utilize the local availability of the latest technology in x-ray and MRI by working with nearby facilities who specialize in digital radiology and MRI. Digital radiology uses less than one half the radiation exposure while providing excellent diagnostic images of problem areas.
Report of Findings
Once all the information is gathered and exams have been performed, the doctor talks with you about his recommendations and a possible treatment plan. He determines and tells you if you have a condition that requires care from other providers.
Treatment
At the end of the first appointment, patients are provided with treatment. This could include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Drs Barrett and Miller encourage communication and want you to be open about the style of treatment with which you are most comfortable.
Wellness
The doctor will instruct patients on a wellness program that can be taken home. This includes using ice/heat, avoidance of certain activities or home stretches/exercises. As well as continued care initiated by patients who wish to continue enjoying the benefits of a chiropractic lifestyle.
